This is the home page of Jerry Lowery a redneck born in Mississippi but who has spent all of his adult life in Mobile Alabama. He has recently moved to Ecuador where he plans to travel extensively through Ecuador and other South American Countries. This is a chronicle of those travels
This is a photo of Mr Gonzalez at head of table and his son-in-law, Dr. Carlos Guamon. They are getting a head start on the Cuy. Dr. Guamon is a very funny man. He also has 3 sons who are doctors.
This is a photo of Dr. Guamon on my left and Telmo on my right. Telmo is one of 3 sons of Mr. Gonzalez, who live in Cuenca. The other 2 are Galo who has a store next to my apartment and Wilson whose home the celebration took place in. Telmo looks like he is wondering if I am going to eat that Cuy. All 3 brothers have been to the USA and speak good English
The lady to the left is Bertha, one of Mr. Gonzalez daughter. Her husband Manix, is in the blue sweater at the other in of the table from Mr. Gonzalez. They are my landlords. The lady to Bertha's right is Jeanette, Telmo's wife. The pretty little girl is Telmo's daughter. I believe the sign reads "Have a happy day"
Here I am digging in to the Cuy. The good Doctor is apparently telling a joke about me and the Cuy. Everything he said was funny. I don't know what he was saying but I laughed any way.
This is a photo of Bertha and Jeanette. That tequila bottle is empty but they didn't have anything to do with that. I don't think that either drank any tequila all night. I wish the next day that I had not.
The lady sitting next to Mr. Gonzalez is Leydy, she is the daughter of Mr. Gonzalez and wife of Dr.Guamon. Telmo is sitting next to me and Manix is at the end of the table
Now at the head of the table is Dr.Raul Gonzalez, a grandson of Mr. Gonzalez then clockwise Dr. Guamon, myself, Galo, Leyry, Bertha, Jeanette, Piedad, Wilson's Wife and Wilson. The good Doctor was poking fun at me but once again I don't know what he was saying but it must have been funny.
Me, Galo, and Leydy. I wasn't hogging the camera, somebody else was taking the pictures.
Another photo of me and Galo. I interact with him more than anyone else. His store is next door to my apartment. He gives me advice when I need it. He always has cold beer and plenty of it.
This photo is of Wilson and Telmo. They both speak very good English. Like Galo they spent earlier years working in New Jersy. They are both very successful builders and property owners. Wilson even owns a hotel.
After the Cuy meal, the Tequila was brought out. I think Manix brought a case. White liquor is my bane. I had to be socialble and have a few drinks. As soon as I finished one drink, somebody pushed another saucer with lime and salt in front of me.The good Doctor is telling another of his hillarous jokes.
We are really getting into the tequila now. Left to right, Dr. Guamon, Manix, myself, Dr. Gonzalez, Galo and Leydy. I think Dr. Guamon is a fake, everytime a photo was taken I believe he would grab an empty beer bottle and stick it up in the air.
Another tequila photo. I hope I am not running these tequila photos into the ground but I want as many photos of this celebration as I can get. I promised the Gonzalez family I would post them on my Ecuador web site.
Does anybody have a futbol. Before the Papa day celebration, a game of soccer(futbol) was planned. All three brothers Galo, Telmo, Wilson and the nephew Dr. Gonzalez, are good soccer players. The game ended pretty soon after it started as somebody kicked the ball over the fence and a truck ran over it.
